I was admitted to the hospital. Who would have guessed how it would have ended.
My Story:
My pregnancy was far from easy. I had the worse morning sickness ... everyday, after every meal. I had zero energy from being so sick. Honestly I was miserable. Around 12 weeks my blood pressure started increasing. I did my 2nd 24 urine and had minimal protein. Around 16 weeks they prescribed me Labatol, a very little dose. I started on weekly visits and my pressure went through the roof. At my 20 week ultrasound they said the baby was only measuring 17 weeks. After chatting with my doctor, they said not to worry. My dates may have been off. They moved my due date to 11/2. At 21 weeks (counting from new due date) I did another 24 hour urine due to EXTREME swelling. After seeing my results my regular OB decided she could no longer handle my care. They refer me to the Perenatal specialist at the local hospital. At the consultation the specialist she said she thought it was a pre-existing kidney condition. I should not be showing symptoms of pre-e so early in pregnancy. I hear that I have the most protein in my urine that this doctor with 20+ years experience has ever seen. This was a Friday, June 26th. I was put on bed rest. Prescribed 200mg of Labatol and 2 doses of Lovenox. I was sent to have blood work drawn doing hundreds of test on my kidneys. I begin to prep myself for a few weeks of bed rest ... then it all goes down hill. The headache started on Monday ... I tried to wish it away. By Tuesday morning, June 30th I had the worse headache I could ever imagine. I saw a flashing light. Honestly I could not see. I could not read the clock beside the bed, I started to freak out and my husband came and sat on the bed in front of me ... I could not see him. He called the hospital immediately and they said for me to come in. I arrived at 11am, a month ago today.
My labs were not good. They decided to keep me, and do labs every 6 hours. They hooked up a cathera (sp?), and I was producing very little urine. Each lab was worse then the one before. At 3am, when my liver started to go too and my platelets dropped they decided I would be induced. By their calculations (based on the size of the baby at the sonogram) I was 22 weeks pregnant. My blood pressure was insane at this point. I was on Magnesium to help prevent a seizure. They had to give me BP meds every 4 hours to help keep it down. Switching what they were giving me every few times because things stopped working. Apparently I was touch and go for a little bit there. My body really started to shut down. They started the induction at 6am on July 1st. They learned the my body was already starting labor, my cervix was already soft.
Hope was born at 1:31pm. She survived about 2 hours. She was perfect. She never cried, or moved once she was born. She became an angel as her dad held her in his arms. My whole family was there, everyone got to hold her. She was baptized at the hospital.
It will be a month tomorrow.
My heart will never be the same.
