Classical music mp3's

I am looking to download some classical music (or other soothing music) in mp3's so that I can use my ipod in the nursery.  We are moving him into his crib now.

Any recommendations?  I have heard about Baby Mozart and Baby Bach, but have also heard that they are 'babied down' or music box-like and not like the real thing.

Re: Classical music mp3's

  • Music major and classical violinist here! ?And I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to classical music - I refuse to buy the Baby Bach and Baby Mozart CDs. ?I'll either play a CD with the real version, or play it myself lol! ?Anyway, my suggestion is to go to your local bookstore like Barnes and Noble or Borders (or any store that allows you to listen to CDs before you buy them) and just start previewing CDs in the music section and find some that you like. ?There's so much variety, but you don't want someone to say "oh Beethoven is a good idea" and then you guy buying the 9th Symphony - not exactly a lullaby lol. ?So, I definitely suggest previewing some CDs at your local store and finding what you like. ?But off the top of my head, I'd suggest the Unaccompanied Cello Suites by J.S. Bach and also some of Beethoven's piano sonatas (although the Moonlight Sonata is actually rather somber). ?Johannes Brahms also had a distinct knack for spectacular melodies. ?Much of his music would be great for LO. ?And it may not be your thing, but I actually find Gregorian chant to be very soothing.

Have a question about the cello suites by JS Bach.  I am looking on itunes and I see a bunch of different ones that are listed as different artists.  I'm a bit confused about the difference. Wouldn't the artist be 'JS Bach'??
