I am still trying to decide if we should get a foam or a coil mattress. I was all set on foram until we went to buy our crib and the sales guy said that if we are planning to use our crib as a toddler bed, which we will, then we should buy a coil mattress, because a foam one will not survive for more then 2-3 years.
I remember reading about it in Baby Bargains and they said that it's not 100% true, so now I am a bit confused.
Which one are you getting and why?
TIA!
Re: Foam or Coil
Baby Bargains does say that the foam not lasting is not true.
However, I did go with a coil mattress. It's a Sealy Baby mattress and it had good reviews and was around 85 dollars.
To me, in the grand scheme of things, a fancier mattress was not a priority-- as long as the cheaper one is safe, which I believe it is.
Stupid bump erased my message when I tried to post.. so 2nd try!

We are buying this foam mattress from Target. It costs $299, which is more than twice what I planned on spending on a mattress but DH really wants this specific one. It only has 1 review, but it's a good one but what we really like about this mattress is that it has 2 different sides to the mattress. One side is for the crib and the other is for a toddler bed, which we will use when we convert the crib. We plan to use this mattress until the baby outgrows the toddler bed, so it better last that long for the price!
I guess I need to pull out Baby Bargains again. I would've sworn they recommended foam which is what I've been looking at. I will go with whatever is firm at a good price.
