Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Does this mean I should start cereal?

DS has rarely woken to eat in the night since he was 8 wks old, this week he's started waking once and then again up for the day earlier. Last night he woke twice to eat and was up for the day earlier. I really want to wait until 6 mos, but my pedi said I should start if milk alone isn't holding him over. I tried a paci but the poor guy was starving each time he woke. Should I wait it out or try some cereal?

Re: Does this mean I should start cereal?

  • I don't know if it's this wakeful BS or what, but DD is also now wanting to eat 1-2 times in the middle of the night, which she didn't use to do. But I'm willing to hold her off with BM until 6 months to avoid any possible allergies.?

  • our pedi said to start cereal at 4 months.
  • We will be starting cereal at 4 months.
  • My pedi said that we should start rice cereal when LO starts waking in the night-- that is his cue that he is ready for cereal.

  • my guy used to eat one or two times a night. now he is eating 3-6 no joke. i talked to the pedia yesteday and he said its normal, they are growing so much right now. He said the surefire sign of being ready for cereal is if they are ogleing (sp?) or grabbing for your food. hth,?
  • My pedi said we could start at 4 mos, but she didn't with her own kids and that said something to me if she didn't, so we would like to wait as long as possible. He's just been so difficult to get to sleep at night suddenly, must just be a change in him.
