No milk in one side?

I've started supplementing with formula for the last few days, and I've been doing half BM half formula in a bottle.  I've still been pumping but not quite as much as when I was EBF.  Now this morning after 8 hours of not pumping or BFing, I went to pump and I got less than an ounce out of my right side, and over 3 out of the left.  What's up with that?

Is there anything I can do to even it out?  I still want to keep my supply up for pumping and BFing occasionally.

Thanks!

Re: No milk in one side?

  • My left side is always significantly less than my right.  It sucks!  I'm guessing I would have way less BFing problems if I didn't have one lame boob. lol.

  • Not sure if it is normal....but I have the same experience.  Almost always I get about double on my left over my right.
  • Most people have one "lazy" boob.   It is very common.  I usually get three times the amount out of my right then my left.

  • I've had that happen a couple of times.  I usually can come close to evening it out by letting LO nurse (out of schedule) on the side that's lacking and not pump on the other side.  I usually do that a couple times a day for a couple of days, but only in BETWEEN normal feedings (like a snack).
