ladies, I am trying my best to stay positive and not freak out, but my cycle is progressing the same way it did on the long lupron protocol. I've got 2 really big lead follicles on one ovary, a few medium sized ones, and a bunch that are small and just haven't grown yet. The RE talked with me today about needing to watch the 2 big ones, and if the smaller ones don't catch up, we may have to cancel/convert to IUI. Last time it ended up working out ok (well, except for the whole m/c thing) so I'm trying to tell myself we'll get enough eggs this time too.
Why does this keep happening?? The 2 things that have changed since my perfect stimulation on IVF #1 are that I'm no longer doing acupuncture, and I started taking Zoloft. Could either of these things affect follicle growth??
Please send follie growing dust my way...next appt is tomorrow morning.
Re: argh! grow, stupid follicles, grow!
This sounds like me. Even with my IUI's I would get one or two large ones and a bunch of small ones. It's just so hard to tell how it's going to work out. Just stay strong and as positive as you can. Have you asked RE about the zoloft? I wouldn't think it's the acupuncture b/c I was getting it done when I had those same results. But then again it may be different for everyone. Sorry I'm no help.
Best of luck tomorrow and try to take it easy the rest of the week and KUP!!!
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

thanks! and, since I"m groggy from no caffeine, what does KUP stand for?
how many days have you stimmed? i never even had anything measurable until like day 7 or 8. i am sure things will work out - idk about the outside effects of follicle growth.
GL! i hope you see a lot of growth at your next appt!
I've only stimmed for 6 days, but the last two cycles I stimmed for 7 days and 8 days, and my IUIs were always quick too.
I didn't get the chance to ask the RE about the Zoloft - he just gave me the standard "we don't know why this happens" speech and sent me on my way.
Unexplained Infertility
After two Clomid cycles, three injectable IUI cycles, two IVFs, two miscarriages, and one lap surgery, IVF #2 has brought us our little boy!
TTC #2
After months of being postponed or cancelled, FET #1.3 (Natural FET) brought us twin girls!
Sending bit fat follie dust your way!
You're not alone with this issue. I've done 2 inject cycles so far and have never grown more than 1 dominate follie. All my others seem to fizzle out when they're no bigger than 11mm or so. Hopefully your other follies will catch up. Drink lots of water today. Not being hydrated will only hinder the growth potential (at least that's what I've heard).
GL!
Sending tons of follie growing dust your way. Sorry, I have no idea about the med or the accupuncture. Hoping things are looking better tomorrow.
ugh, it's SOOO frustrating when your body won't do what it's supposed to do! I'm sending lots of follie growing thoughts your way!! (and saying some prayers for you too!) Hopefully you won't have to convert and you'll get some great eggs! you never know, there's still time for the laggers to catch up!
I don't know about Zoloft and follie growth, but I have to say, the cycles I did acupuncture I did get the best response and highest # of mature eggs. I really do think acupuncture can help.
good luck tomorrow, L!!!
Gosh. I really don't know. I don't know anything about Zoloft but wouldn't your RE have figured that in to the equation.
As for acupuncture, I do think it helps. All that bloodflow stuff has a positive effect on follie growth, lining, etc. I remember going twice in one week during stims and then my RE being pleasantly surprised at my progress. So it helped for me at least. But it is probably too late to start it up again at this point.
I hope that everything is working out and you don't have to convert to IUI. But even if you do, it did work for you before. Keep your chin up.
I'm so sorry Inle! How stressful........I really hope your others catch up like last time - I bet they will. You know how everyday can be such a different story in this "game."
Good luck and keep us posted! I don't think either acu or Zoloft would make a difference, but I would definitely ask your RE when you go back in if things still look unbalanced.
sending follie growing dust!
i'd really check into the zoloft thing - i know that it inhibits neurotransmitters in the brain, so if it can affect the pituitary gland, it could be inhibiting follie growth.... but my biophysio psych training is limited so definitely ask someone!
also, once you do become pg, zoloft has found to have a high correlation with babies born with heart defects. so maybe talk to your doctor about alternatives?
i don't have a whole lot of knowledge about this stuff I just want you to be healthy! good luck!!
