I think me and my girlfriend are bringing LO's to the beach. I am nervous about her and the sun. I have a sun tent here with us..I was thinking about having to rent a umbrella too.
My oldest was born 8/3. We went to the beach for a week the second week in sept so she was very young. We kept her in her infant seat. She was covered and we also had an umbrella up. She did fine. I actually think she enjoyed it. She was very calm. I think it was because of the sound of the ocean.
We're taking DD to the beach next weekend. I'm a little nervous because we have nothing yet, so I have to go get a tent or something for her. But I'm super excited... I think she'll love the ocean.
We took our LO to the beach last week and she loved it! We put her feet in the ocean when the tide would come in and she loved that too. We used sunblock, sunglasses and had her in her umbrella stroller under an umbrella when we weren't down at the water.
Brought LO to the beach for the first time last week. We had a beach tent and he was great. slept most of the time. I would recommend getting the umbrella as well. we are planning to get one for next time, when you have to feed them or just want to give them a break from the tent, you need another shady spot.

We have been to the beach a few times this summer and it went great. They slept a lot in their stroller. Our pedi gave us the ok for sunscreen and we had their hats on when they were exposed. If you are bringing down a stroller I recommend using a jogger stroller - easier to push through the sand and we got a beach cart that held our chairs, umbrellas, etc.
Here is what our set up looked like (with my DH, mom, and sis...I was sitting with my LO on the blanket then got up to take the pic - I don't want you to think we just left him alone under there) ;-)
Re: anyone bring LO to the beach?
I don't see any harm as long as LO is well protected, hydrated, and cool
Be warned, sand gets EVERYWHERE!
