Anyone get shooting pains in breasts??

I don't know what to attribute this to.  It's not letdown, it's not engorgement.  But every once in a while I get stabbing pains in my breasts with no rhyme nor reason to them.  It can be before or after nursing - in fact, it happened earlier today while at work, and then this evening after I'd nursed DS on both sides.  Any idea what this is?  It doesn't happen often.
Childhood cancer (DH) + chemo + radiation = 0 sperm.
LO #1 - 1 unmedicated/self-monitored IUI w/ donor sperm.
LO #2 - 1 m/c, 2 BFNs, 4th IUI worked (unmedicated/self-monitored with new donor sperm).
Life is beautiful!

     I had that with thrush. Are your nipples sore, red, shiny, or cracked?

    I had it with thrush and I have it with vasospams--do your nipples turn white after nursing/pumping, ever? It may be vasospasms. Harmless, if it is.?

    Huh, none of the things you guys described apply.  With thrush, do the pains happen randomly?  That's the way it's been for me.

    Your baby is so fricken cute.I have the same pains-interested in the responses.My nips do not crack or turn white after BF? Just shooting pains that throb from time totime.

    I get this too but I'm not sure what it is. It also comes at random times for me - usually in between feedings (not directly before or after). I do get the nipple blanching (white nipples) that a prior poster mentioned so maybe it's related to that? I take Motrin to try and ease my overall nipple pain and it seems to help those shooting pains too.

    I had that type of pain when my DS was 5 months old. I had a yeast infection on both my nipples. he never got thrush, but they treated him for it anyway so he wouldn't get it from me.
