Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Anyone else have a 9 mo old not crawling yet?

C will be 9 mo tomorrow and he still doesn't crawl. He can sort of wiggle backwards but that's it. He very rarely even rolls over and hates to be on his belly. Should I call the pedi? Please reassure me!

  • DS didn't crawl till 11 months.  I started getting pretty worried around 9 months, ended up calling the pedi at 10 months who reassured me that as long as DS could stand holding onto something this was the real "milestone" and of course also said that not all babies crawl.  My DS also hated tummy time and didn't roll over very much.  Try not to worry and call your pedi for reassurance if you need some!

  • Hmm he doesn't stand or pull up either.  Well, maybe he could stand for a few seconds.  I hate worrying about this, it even brings me to tears most days.  Maybe I should call the pedi just for some peace of mind.

  • DS wasn't pulling up at 9 months either but he could stand up holding on to something if we placed him there.  If you are worried, you should call - I bet everything is fine.

  • Both of mine didnt crawl until almost ten months,  they didnt pull up until after they crawled.  Dont worry yet,  I know it is hard not to though!

Once they even started trying to crawl,  a week later they took off.

  • My DS isn't crawling!  Totally normal...some kids don't.

  • DD showed no interest in crawling at all, then at 10m1wk started taking her first unassisted steps. I assumed she'd never crawl, since I didn't. 1 week later she started crawling.

    Don't worry - it's perfectly normal.?
