STOP touching my belly!

Have any of you wanted to tear someone's head off from trying to touch your belly yet? I barely have a baby bump and my co workers are all "ohhh let me see it!"
Come on now...I don't walk around my office touching everyone else's bellies...hands off people!

ARGHHH I can't stand them!

  • Wow 7 weeks?!?! I have yet to tell co-irkers yet.
  • Heh, don't they know you don't have a real baby bump at 7 weeks...you're more likely to be simply bloated, because at 11 weeks I'm just barely starting to feel a tiny bump and believe me, it's LOW and in a spot nobody would dare put their hand Smile

I'm pretty sure I'm going to murder anybody except family or close friends who tries to touch me.  I've been warned of this, and I think it's kind of nasty.

  • I'm trying to prepare myself for all the touching and rubbing I'll have in store for me once we start telling people this weekend. Really people, it's just bloat.
  • And this is only the beginning for you! I didn't really like it either, but most people don't seem to realize pregnant women are still entitled to personal space.
  • I never had anyone but family and best friends want to touch my belly with DS.  Don't know how I missed the random creepy old lady in the super market, but somehow I did.  Guess we'll see.

They were along for my whole IVF ride so they knew I was going to find out within a few days of the procedure.

I didn't want to tell them but I was out so much for dr's appts that I didnt have a choice.  So much for secrets!

  • I'm pretty sure it's going to be bad for me, once the kids at school find out I'm pregnant.  I'm going to have to come up with a tactful way to tell them no ahead of time so I don't end up getting myself in trouble.
  • I never had anyone wanting to touch my belly but maybe it was the "touch and you die" look on my face all time.  I guess I was lucky.  I did have people come up and touch my DD when she was first born without asking.
  • I sometimes even have a problem with DH touching it bc he always seems to want to rub my belly when I'm feeling sick. I'm thinking about getting a maternity shirt screen printed if one doesn't already exist that says "Look. Don't touch!" on the bump for when we go public.

Can you teach that look? I'd like to perfect it NOW so we can avoid any future casualties! Hmm

  • I had this happen for the first time last night and I was so surprised I didn't know what to say. I really had to think about what happened lol. If this is how it's going to be I think I'm going to have a problem!

There is nothing there to touch - so it hasn't happened yet. Only my mom - and that did make me grind my teeth -- YOU'RE JUST TOUCHING BLOAT... It's going to suck (for everyone else) when I start showing. HAND OFF is my policy. and I'm not going to be shy to say anything

  • I'm sorry.  I had the same problem, but it seemed to be with people at the grocery store. . .Pregnant women and babies seem to lose all personal space.  Hopefully the novelty wears off soon and they leave you alone.
  • Does your work have casual Fridays? I would get a shirt that says something along the lines of 'look, don't touch' and wear it every single Friday. Eventually people would stop touching.. If they weren't dense.

Casual Fridays at my work are extremely casual, so I could get away with doing something like ironing on that phrase onto a tank top and wearing one of those little short cardigan type things over it with some jeans. I don't know how they work at your office if you have them at all, but just an idea! :) Good luck!

  • I haven't had anyone touch my belly yet, but right after we told my MIL, she said "I thought I saw a bump on the 4th of July".  Umm, yeah...I was only 10 days along!
