OMG, I just weighed my 7.5 wk old and she's almost 12.5 lbs!!! I know FFers are supposed to limit to 40 oz a day or something like that and I've always heard to feed a BF baby as much as they want. To moms with chunky babies ... what were you told by your pedi about this?
TIA
Re: You're not supposed to restrict a EBF baby, right?
Christmas 2011
If baby is hungry, feed baby. :-)
DS was 9.7 at birth and gained fast. He's evened out lately though, at 16m he's been hovering around 24-25lbs for about 3 months or so. He started walking & is losing his chub.
DS started off big (just over 9lbs) and gained quickly in the first few months, staying in the 95th percentile until about 6mo. He eventually tapered off and is now a petite toddler.
It's fine to keep feeding her.

i feed on demand (EBF) and both i and my pediatrician believe that you feed a hungry baby. my ds has gained lots of weight very quickly and i specifically asked about his weight gain. pedi said "we don't worry about newborns gaining too much weight by bfing. in older babies you can try to soothe by other means first (such as paci, rocking to sleep, stimulation) but if baby is upset - go ahead and feed."
My 8.8 lb baby was over 11 lbs by 1 month. I think he was 14ish by the 2nd month.
You're fine. Keep feeding on demand.
Sam's weight fell dramatically between 6 and 9 months, I think it was just self correcting, as his dad and I aren't big people.
