Hi moms! AL Nestie here! We will be visiting Chatanooga next weekend and I'm looking for fun things to do. We have a 10 year old daughter and 16 month old son. We are definitely planning to go to the Aquarium, but would like to do something else fun to do while we are there. We plan to go Saturday, stay in a hotel Sat night and return Sunday evening. I know about Ruby Falls and Rock City, but don't think we want to do that. Are there any water parks or amusement parks? Kids Museums? Anything else that would be good for both of my kids? Also, do you have any hotel recommendations...maybe specialty kid friendly hotels with cool extras that would be fun for them? If not, then just a nice hotel that would be conveniently located to the aquarium? Also, what about restaurants? Thanks so much for your help!!!
Re: Fun for Kids in Chatanooga?
Hey there!
I have a couple of suggestions for your visit to Chattanooga. Visiting the aquarium is a great idea! There are two different sides (salt and fresh water). If you have to choose between the two I would go to the salt water side.
This website has some good coupons! https://www.chattanoogafun.com/
We also have the Creative Discovery Museum (which is only 3 or 4 blocks away from the aquarium) https://www.cdmfun.org/ . We always take the 1st graders there on a field trip but I'm not sure if your 10 year old might be a little too old to enjoy it...
Another popular place is a water park called Lake Winnepesaukah. I've never been there before so I can't really tell you much about it... https://www.lakewinnie.com/
https://www.chattanoogahasfun.com/ This website has day by day listings of activities going on in Chattanooga.
Let's see... I'm not sure where you're coming from but if your area doesn't have a zoo we have a small one here. https://travel.yahoo.com/p-travelguide-2867617-warner_park_zoo_chattanooga-i
I don't really have any suggestions for hotels but please let me know if you have any other questions!

PP gave you some great suggestions. Lake Winnie is actually an amusement park, not a water park.
There is also an Imax theater near the Creative Discovery Museum.
You could ride one of the Ducks. They tour downtown and then can drive into the river.
I don't know about hotels with special things for kids. You could always stay at the historic Chattanooga Choo Choo. You can stay in a standard room, or they have rooms inside train cars.
There are tons of great restaurants downtown that you can walk to.
