Ultrasound that is. I would love to have one, and I think they are so cool b/c you can actually see who/what your LO is going to look like. +
But we are choosing not to have one so that there is an element of surprise when we meet him for the first time when he's born.
Anyone else not having one done and why not???
Re: Anyone else NOT having a 4-D??
We're not because I'd rather use the money to get newborn pics taken in the first couple of weeks after she is born.
Don't get me wrong, if I had the extra $, I'd do it in a second!
We are not getting one either - for similar reasons. I think it is kind of anti-climactic to already have a good idea of what your baby will look like before you've even given birth.
Plus (and this is probably flame-worthy), I think they are kind of creepy looking.

4D!? Never heard of it! I'm having a 2D and a 3D done at my big ultrasound but only because they offered it and it is covered by insurance!
EDIT: yes they are SUPER creepy but I'm still doing it!! If I had to pay I wouldn't!
I'm not. I think they look like creapy blobs of goldish baby. Freaks me out a bit. Plus I don't want to spend the extra money on something that pales in comparision to the real thing that I just need to wait until January to see.
We had one with DS. I loved it and really thought it was neat. However this time around we are opting not to spend the $ on that and put it towards other things.
'Til He returns, or calls me home,
Here in the power of Christ I stand.
I'm glad I'm not the only one! Most women that I work with and other friends have all gotten them done and they act like I'm crazy for not wanting one!!
This is exactly how we feel. We also feel like we don't want to see what our baby looks like until we can actually hold him or her in our arms.

We are not having one.
Essentially because it is a medical procedure, and while it is currently indicated as low risk that is a LOT of ultrasound waves to be sending at the baby to create the multi-dimensional image (a lot more than a regular medical ultrasound). So while it's probably safe, it's not neccessary and we're skipping it.
We are not. We didn't with our daughter either. We figure we can wait to see what this one looks like. Also, being team green, every time an ultrasound is involved, I get nervous that someone is going to slip and reveal the gender.
We will just wait and put the extra money towards announcements and newborn pics.
And while we are being honest, I think they are a bit creepy as well. And, I don't think anyone else thinks they are quite as exciting as the parents. We've sat through many a 3D, 4D video that we could have done without!
hee hee, this made me giggle!

No way. I personally wouldn't get any ultrasounds other than what my doctor thinks I should have.
Plus, the 3-D ultrasound the doctor did with my daughter really didn't look much like her. Other than her hairline, I'd never recognize her in a million years!
Like many of the PP, not doing one because of cost, and some pics/videos i've seen also creeped my out. A friend of mine did it and absolutely loved hers. So, if you can afford it and really want to do it, go for it!
