Can I throw DH's golf clubs away? vent

DH works Monday-Friday. Therefore Saturday and Sunday are my only days where I get some help. That's all well and good except DH has gone golfing with his dad nearly every Sat for the past few months. For those of you who know golf, this takes 5-6 hours and then DH is so exhausted when he gets home that he is really no help. This has to stop when I go back to work on Monday or I might punch him in the balls. I call for equal parenting!!!!

  • Have you told him how you felt or asked for help?  I know you shouldn't have to ask but if my dh was out that long every Saturday and not helping that would pi$$ me off to no end.

  • DH does this, but not golfing, it's riding his motorcycle all over on Saturdays with the guys.  It aggravates me to no end.  I basically just said hey, wanna help out here more on the weekends or shall I take a spa day on Sundays and you can do everything yourself.  HAHA  That worked like a charm.

I have a couple times, but DH says "Dad has no one else to golf with" whatever. I am going to have to talk to him again tonight because he just texted me saying they are going Sunday. I should just text him that I am going somewhere. I like how he just assumes that I will take care of DS while he runs around.

    good plan
  • OMG...  I feel your pain.  I had a serious meltdown last weekend about this.  DH called me on Friday from work to say that he was leaving early to play golf.  He thought he was doing me some huge favor by playing on Friday rather than Sat or Sun.  Well...  If he plays on Fri afternoon he doesn't get home until after 7pm and LO is already asleep by then!  We had a serious talk when he got home and needless to say there will be no golf this weekend.

  • ConfusedYou can throw them away if I can throw my H's away too.

He spent $80 last weekend golfing and now we don't have the extra money to buy a breast pump. Good job DH

  • Talk to him about it. My DH is an avid golfer and plays baseball. After Ava was born we talked about his hobbies and decided he could pick two activities per week, so if he goes to ball practice and plays in a game then no golf that week. We also agreed that when Momma wants to get out of the house there are no questions asked, since he gets his regular two activities a week he agreed this was fair. Good luck!

WTF kind of reason is that? It's not like he's saying "Dad has no one else to take him to the doctor." Maybe his dad will have to- GASP -not golf every single weekend! Either that or you get to leave for 5-6 hours on the other weekend day!

  • I understand your frustration. Try talking to your DH and letting him know how you feel. see if you two can come to some compromise with regards to the golfing. I would like to throw my husbands computer away because he will sit and play games while we are supposed to be spending family time. I finally said that there needs to be some time without the computer.

  • Thanks ladies. I am going to have a talk with him this evening. Hopefully it doesn't turn into an argument.
