post partum hormone change? (may be gross to some of you!)

OK, I need to ask a question about the post partum hormone change. This may be gross to some of you so if you get easily grossed out, please don't read this.

I am getting that hormone change now. My hair is coming out like crazy and I've had some slightly heavy gooey discharge. What I am wondering about is the clear liquid discharge that just started last week. It is obnoxious! It is liquid like water, but it is not urine. Any ideas? Is this normal? Any help would be great. :)

Oh, and can I use tampons now? I am assuming yes, since sex is ok, but hearing your thoughts would help put me at ease.

Hope this wasn't too gross, but I know that you EFFers are the best at giving honest advice. :)

  • I don't have any experience, but just wanted to say that nothing is too gross for someone who has given birth, LOL!

  • Not sure on the discharge, though it would make sense with hormones changing. I'm right there with you on the hair, though - I'm losing hair like CRAZY right now! DH asked me if something was wrong with me! Pregnancy is just the gift that keeps on giving, isn't it??

LOL! That is a GREAT point! :)

  • I can't help with the discharge thing because I still get a discharge but its from the paragard and it its gooey.  But my hair is falling out still!  It all sounds normal to me but if you are worried I'd just call your Dr.
  • I have heard the hair thing is normal. ?I don't know about the discharge.

  • Are you sure the discharge isn't related to cervical fluid?  I leak sometimes but it is usually just a bit of urine.  Usually any discharge that comes out on it's own, from not laughing or sneezing, is cervical fluid for me.
