Babies: 0 - 3 Months

How are you organizing your LO's closet??

I have all my DD's 0-3 stuff washed and in her closet now and 3-6 and larger in drawers with the tags still on.  But I just read a post that a lot of you have babies that are in different sizes.  Do you wash everything and have it ready in the closet?  She just has so much cute stuff so I don't want to miss out on her wearing something because she has grown out of it before I put it in her closet...

Re: How are you organizing your LO's closet??

  • I washed everything, and had it organized by size in the closet and the drawers.  All of her "nicer" things hang in the closet, while the day-to-day onesies and such are in the drawers.  Plus we have about 4 drawers full of blankets, burp clothes, towels, pajamas, etc.

  • I wash as she fits into new sizes because I don't like clothes sitting collecting dust so I would just have to wash again anyway.  I organize in closet and/or drawer by the ACTUAL size of the clothing (not by what the tag says).  You can compare the clothes to eachother to see what is actually what size since they all run differently.  Onesies/bottoms stay in the drawers, everything else is hanging in the closet.
  • Oh geez...guess I have a ton of laundry to do!
  • What is this word? Organizing?

Nope. Never heard of it. ;)

  • i have everything washed. NB and 3month stuff in drawers/hung up and then 6mos + in bags. DD is still in NB so 3months should last her through the summer+
  • I also separate clothes by the actual size (not label on tag).  I did prewash all of her NB through 3 month clothes.  She is in 3-6 now, and I didn't prewash those...we haven't had any problems, either.
Dresses, rompers, onesie/pants sets, and super cute onesies hang in the closet.  Regular onesies, jammies, pants/shorts/skirts go in her dresser.
An organizer hangs in her closet, too.  It houses shoes, diapers, wipes, bibs, hats, and extra washclothes.  I really like the organization it provides.

  • Hmmm...maybe I will just pull everything out and check on the actual sizes.  We live in an old house and she doesn't have a closet, just an armoire, so we don't have a ton of room.  Thanks girls!
  • We have all the dresses, rompers, and other one piece outfits hung by size in the closet. I have two of the those white and clear plastic steralite containers with drawers. One drawer each for pants, shorts/diaper covers, onsies, bibs, hats, socks/tights, and two drawers for pajamas. We have one built in shelf in the closet that has her shoes. Works great. We washed everything ahead of time also.

That is a new word for me too.  I'll have to look into it.

  • I have everything sorted out by size in the closet or his drawers. I only wash the sizes that he's wearing and so on.

  • lol I did have everything hung in his closet outside of pants until he arrived. Now it's basically all the upper sizes and the stuff he hasn't wore yet. ...the stuff he currently wears usually stays in the laundry basket by the changing table. lol It's just easier for me. His clothes are so small and I do laundry so much, that it's almost pointless to hang and organize. If it helps, I haven't come across a hanging outfit yet that hasn't fit. However he is currently in 0-3 month and it's the newborn outfits in his drawers that I just came across and realized I forgot about. I was just so used to grabbing an outfit from the closet. Luckily, some of them still fit him.
  • Washed it all. I'm a little weird when it comes to organization. I have them sorted by size but also subcategorized by length. So the plain onesies all the way to the left, then the onesies with bottoms, then the one piece shorts outfits, then the overall type outfits, then the one piece pants outfits, and lastly the footed outfits.

Since it's all hanging in there, I can see if there's, say, a 3-6 month outfit that looks like it runs short and I can have DS wear that sooner than the rest of his 3-6 month outfits (which he isn't wearing yet).

I have one outfit that I LOVED. We brought it to the hospital to bring DS home in. It was WAY too big, but we used it anyway. It was a 3 month, so I hung it back with the 3 month stuff. When he was still in nb sizes, I pulled it out and it was too short!!! I learned my lesson.
