? re: Growth Spurts

DS hit his 6-week growth spurt yesterday (he hits his a week early....hit his 3-week at 2-weeks, etc).  He nursed non-stop from 5 AM to 9 PM with my only breaks a broken-up 2 hours in that period when DH came home from work to get him to nap so I could nap and not go insane and when DH took him so I could eat dinner.

Please tell me that the 3-month and 6-month growth spurts aren't as brutal....maybe just more frequent (like every 2 hours instead of every 3+) so that I don't lose my mind now in fear of their arrival....

Re: ? re: Growth Spurts

  • For me the 7-10 day was the worse and each growth spurt after that got much better (or I was able to handle them better).  I don't remember the 3 or 6 month growth spurts being too demanding.

  • That's how DS eats now! He is a grazer big time and it's pretty demanding. Hope he gets into more of a rhythm and breaks up his feedings a bit more ::sigh::
  • I am wondering about this too, yesterday LO practically screamed from 11 am-4pm then nursed nearly every 1 1/2-2 hours last night.  Today he either slept (2-3 hour stretches) or cried-the only thing to calm him seems to be nursing him.  He strains about 5-10 min into each feeding-flexing his legs, arching his back, which makes me wonder if he's not getting enough milk-perhaps my supply is not caught up to his increased demand...He's also getting a bit gassy from taking in so much air when crying-but Mylicon seems to be helping with that.  Does this sound like a growth spurt or something else?  He has no fever and frequent (10+) wet/poopy diapers a day.
