Breastfeeding

hello and a few questions

Hi Ladies! I am happy to be joining you on this board. So far BFing is going pretty well. The first 3 days were rough, but we are on day 3 of EBF and LO seems to be doing great! I am currently not pumping and am wondering when it is a normal time to start that. At my class they rec doing it at 3w to prepare for a growth spurt, but after that how do you know? Is it ok to pump now so DH can do one of the night feedings or is it too early still? Any advice would help!!! tia

Re: hello and a few questions

  • Different ppl may have different opinions on this, but imo, I would wait on the pumping if ebf'ing is going well.  You still haven't established your supply, and will need to wake up to pump while your dh is feeding your LO, anyway.  May as well skip the extra pumping and get your rest!  If, however, you have supply issues, pumping after each feeding may help boost your supply.  Congrats!
