I got my hair cut today and my stylist said some is coming out. I have not noticed this yet. I know it can happen in pregnancy. what can you take to make it not thin out as much?
I don't know if this is true or not buy my MIL said she noticed she lost less hair when she cut it to just past her shoulders. I guess since it weighed less. I don't know if this is true or not. Good luck!

That's strange, I've only ever heard that your hair tends to not fall out when you are pregnant. Then after you have the baby and your homones change again the excess hair will start falling out.
During my first pregnancy, my hair fell out like crazy during my 1st and 2nd trimesters and then it stopped. But about 6 weeks after I had my baby it started to fall out again. This time only lasting a few weeks. I thought I was going to go bald but I never did. I'm about 9 weeks now and it's been falling out again for at least 3 weeks. I don't think it was noticeable to anyone else just annoying to me.
You might want to ask your doc to test your thyroid. Hair loss can be a sign of hypothyroidism. Getting pregnant can make a thyroid issue worse. Google it - there are a bunch of other symptoms too.
I have been losing a lot of hair as well - my sink gets full of hair everytime I comb it out after my shower - have to scoop it all out with a kleenex to keep the sink from clogging - I have this fear of going bald... Also the bathroom floor has to be swept more often - I have hair like 8 inches down my back and I am thinking to get it cut to just past my shoulders next week - maybe that will help?

I noticed my hair was falling out my first 8 -9 weeks or so...it is getting better now though. I brought it up to my OB and she said it was normal. She said most people lose less hair, but some lose more, it's just those crazy hormones!:)

I've noticed that my hair has stopped falling out compared to pre-pregnancy. I use to shed like crazy and now it's significantly less.
