If you have (or had) an IUD

Can your partner feel it?

This morning we were having sex and DH pulled back saying ouch- he felt like something pinched him. I couldn't believe it, so we tried again and not even 2 minutes later the same thing happened.

I had never heard this (or thought about it). I know when I had the Nuva Ring he could feel it, but I thought the IUD was deeper... hmmm. I'm a little worried because those puppies are not cheap!

Anyone have this happen??

  • He's never said anything, so i'm going to guess no. Have you had it checked since you had it put in??

  • Yes, DH felt the strings of my Mirena.  He moved them out of the way manually and it was fine then.  Doctor said that it was normal to feel them and we could have them shortened if we wanted.

    Dear Lord, please no!

I have only had it for about 5 weeks, and I'm still spotting from it. I am supposed to go in for a check on the placement and a pap in September. Should I go sooner? Or try to manually move the string? I don't want to dislodge anything!?

  • You could possibly feel the strings which hang out of the cervix, but they should not hurt.  PP mentioned her body rejecting hers which means it was being pushed out of the cervix by the body.  If it's beyond the cervix your husband should not be feeling it.  I would go be checked.
