2nd Trimester

Anyone try the flashlight trick?

I went to my ob yesterday because I was sick and my baby hadn't moved in two days. Well I was dehydrated thus no movement etc, I'm better today. Anyway he told me if eating doesn't get her moving to take a big bright flashlight and press it against my belly. He said it should get her moving because babies can see a brightness when you press the light. He said babies like it warm and dark in there so if you disturb them the will kick away to try and roll over away from the light. My dh and I just tried it. Her kicks are still soft but she was wiggling like crazy!! We only did it a few seconds because I felt bad. It was neat though.

  • I will try this soon. My favorite trick is putting a (light weight) book, cell phone, coaster, on my belly and watching it jump when LO kicks at it!
  • Hmm, never heard of that.  I'll have to try it tonight!

  • DH and I actually tried this last night! I had felt LO move around from the outside for a few days but as always, whenever DH would put his hand on my stomach the baby would stop. So I mentioned the flashlight thing last night and we tried it and DH got to feel the kicks for the 1st time!
