elevated natural killer cells?

I finally got all of my bloodwork back from my new RE.  He says my NK cells are elevated and in conjunction with my adenomyosis he recomends a round of intralipids and prednisone.

Has anyone had any experience with this?

I am so happy we finally have some answers and a plan!!!

Re: elevated natural killer cells?

  • I did Intralipids and it was super easy, and really inexpensive- my insurance covered the infusion and I had a $10 copay for the medicine.

My RE's office does this a lot- they have had great success with it! Best of luck to you!

  • Did your REs run the natural killer cell assay and other immune tests after RPL, or just in standard testing?

I asked my RE to test immune issues for me b/c I have Hashimotos and my mom has Lupus and a million other autoimmune issues.  He said that's only warranted for RPL and that the treatments if anything comes back abnormal are still sort of controversial/not proven (intralipid, prednisone).  He did test lupus anticougulant and anticardiolipid antibodies b/c he said if they came back off (which they didn't), treatment was a baby asprin.

  • I dont know what exact test my RE did- but I had the RPL done and several other tests, I have MTHFR and Hashimotos as well. So between all of that, my RE said it couldnt hurt only help.

  • Yes, I was tested for Natural Killer cell activity, in my RPL panel.  My results came back borderline abnormal.  Treatment would be intralipids.  I also have one APA that was positive, which we may do Lovenox for, or maybe just baby aspirin.  Immunological causes are very controversial in IF.  Most docs don't believe in them.  But sometimes it can't hurt to try treatment.  My clinic has a lot of info on their website about it - SIRM.  www.haveababy.com.
