Ques from 3rd tri...is a BF class worth it?

I've been debating whether a class would be worth the money/time or if books, online support, LC would be enough to get me through. What was your experience?

A BF class is the only class I took (besides a hospital tour) and it was 100% worth it! While I probably could have gotten the info I needed from a book or online, it was invaluable to have DH attend with me. It really got him on board with BFing, and he learned a lot about how to support during those early difficult days. In fact, I think he paid attention better than I did, because he was helping me with certain holds/positions while in the hospital LOL.

I also appreciated being able to meet my LC prior to giving birth. It's much easier to call on someone you've met before if you find you are having trouble along the way.

We didn't take one b/c the hospital offered LC's while in hospital and all the nurses on the floor were knowledgable and helped as well. However there are factors that can lead you to not be able to B F and resort to Exclusive Pumping as an option. I wouldn't think it could hurt though

We also had access to LC appts after we left the hospital too, so it just depends on if you take any of the help that is given to you.

Ditto BarnStar completely. Don't stress if you can't take it, but it was definitely worth it even though I felt that I did enough of my own research. It was more about DH b/c when it comes down to it you really need their support in the beginning when things are tough.

Taking a BF class is definitely worth it! I definitely think it's because of the class that I've been so successful with bf'ing. It fully prepared me for how hard it was going to be, and had a lot of useful info. I highly recommend it.

A class is totally worth it! I wouldn't have been as successful without it.

I thought it was totally worth it. I had done a lot of research & felt I was pretty knowledgeable, but I still learned some new things in the class. Also, ditto PP about it helping to get DH on board. He felt more empowered & like he was a part of the process too.
