Babies: 9 - 12 Months

I guess I have to start making baby food.

Before DS was supposed to start solids I planned to try and make his food. Then, I have always been so busy we have just been trying Gerber purees. At his 6 mo. checkup yesterday I told the pedi he doesn't like any of the food (we've tried rice and oatmeal cereal, squash, carrots, sweet potatoes, green beans). She told me to start making it on my own and he might like it better. So, I guess I need to start reading up on how to begin.

  • It's easy and cheaper! I actually think its fun. If you have any questions about how to do it, let me know.

You'll be surprised at how easy it is.

  • I just started (I'm actually blogging about it). It is SO easy and doesn't take much time at all.

I just bookmarked your blog too . . . it looks interesting to me. :) We've been trying to eat at home a lot more lately ourselves.

  • I love making baby food! I am going to be sad when DS doesn't need purees anymore.

I am in Chattanooga.  Have you seen that NBjenni is planning a gtg at the GA aquarium? I had to look up where Savannah is. It looks like we are about 4 hours away.

  • Homemade is so much fun and really easy.

Best thing ever is those mini food processors from wherever--I know bed bath and beyond sells for like $39--it's awesome!!!!!  And I use those baby cubes that are like $10 for a set of like 10-12 but you can use anything.  I've even re-used glass baby food jars (freezing them).

If you have a pressure cooker you can cook up a bunch of sweet potatoes--then when they are super soft --just skin them and puree--voila!

    Same with green beans....really anything.

We have been doing so bad lately. That's why I haven't updated. This weekend I am going grocery shopping no matter what and the eating out stops for real!!!

I need to get one of those. I don't have a food processor at all.

I know exactly what you mean . . .we'll do good for a little while, then slip right back into our old habits. I've been trying hard to keep the house stocked with a variety of food so that I have no excuses (one of my most popular excuses is that what we have at the house doesn't sound good).
