I received an email from one of my 6 year old son's friend's mother this morning. This mom had mentioned to me that she would be having a birthday party for her son in July/early August and her son would like my son to be there, so I thought this was what this email was about. Unfortunately it wasn't. This email was to let us know that they will not be having a birthday party for him this year. They have been in a children's hospital for the past 2 weeks and he was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma and has undergone his first round of chemo. He will not be able to go to school this year and will be home tutored. My heart is breaking. I couldn't imagine going through this with my little boy, I can't stop crying. I can only pray for this litte boy and his family and be as supportive as I can.
All good wishes and prayers would be greatly appreciated. TYIA. XOXOXO.
***Neuroblastoma is a cancer that develops from nerve cells found in several areas of the body. Neuroblastoma most commonly arises in and around the adrenal glands, which have similar origins to nerve cells and sit atop the kidneys. However, neuroblastoma can also develop in other areas of the abdomen and in the chest, neck and pelvis, where groups of nerve cells exist.
Neuroblastoma most commonly affects children age 5 or younger, though it may rarely occur in older children and adults. Neuroblastoma is the most common cancer in babies and often has a very good prognosis in children younger than 1. About 650 people are diagnosed with neuroblastoma each year in the United States, according to the American Cancer Society.
Re: Prayers Needed Please
So sad. Prayers sent.
For this child I prayed, and the LORD has given me my petition which I asked of him.

This breaks my heart. I know of too many kids with cancer. A local Nestie has a 14 month old daughter fighting a rare form of leukemia. She was diagnosed about 5 weeks ago now and has already undergone a major chemo cycle. She's in partial remission but needs a marrow transplant. It kills me every time I think about it.
