How many oz and bottles do you send to daycare? My son is 4 months and EBF and I have no idea how many oz of milk I should send for him when he starts daycare next week.
Also, when did you stop the middle of the night feeding? My son still wakes up once a night and I don't know if it's because he's hungry or he's just used to waking up for a feeding.?
Re: Ques for BF Moms of infants
I think I did about the same as the pp--4 4 oz. bottles. Better to err on the side of having too much until you figure out how much your LO will eat. If you can bring some frozen to store, that might help, too.
I fed him at night until he started sleeping through around 9 months. I was starting to get to the point where I was going to sleep train, but he did it by himself.
I think we did about 4 4-oz bottles each day.
We still haven't gotten middle of the night feedings gone 100%! And yes, my DD is almost 2. She has given us about 3 months throughout her life of no wakings. Around 10 months we completely stopped night feedings, but i will still feed her in the middle of the night for sickness or teething.
she was drinking 3 3oz bottles a day when I returned to work when she was 12 weeks, now she's up to 3 4oz bottles a day and we'll start sending solids in a few weeks.
ETA: we are still feeding every 3 hours at night. It's hard but I'm managing.
DS is 3 months and will start DC next week. He has been with MIL for the past two months. I leave four 4oz bottles and one two oz bottle. The two ouncer is for when he might need a bit extra and I've asked her to heat it up one ounce at a time. He drinks the extra maybe once every two weeks, so really he drinks four 4oz bottles. I nurse him before I leave, once when I get home and usually once more when I put him to bed at 8pm. I'm away from him from 6am to 5:30pm. He sleeps through the night from 8pm-ish to 5 or 6am.
I will leave the same amount for DC except that I will probably separate the two ounce bottle into two of one ounce. They make you have all the bottles prepared and will only heat. With MIL the freezer stash was also there, but she's never touched it.
At 4 months DD drank 3 5 oz bottles at daycare and would nurse 1x in the AM and 2x after picking her up - before going to bed between 7-7:30.
She slept all night and we have not fed her in the middle of the night since 3 months.
I was making 7 oz. bottles for each feeding at 4 months, and DS was finishing off anywhere from 5-7 oz. from those. But my little guy is a big eater.
I'll bet I quit the middle of the night feeding at about 6 months. It sort of came earlier and earlier until it became a "10 pm/right before I went to bed" feeding. Now at 9 months he has completely phased it out and his last feeding is at 7 pm and he STTN.
