Babies: 9 - 12 Months

what is your vax schedule?

and why did you choose it to be that way?

Re: what is your vax schedule?

  • 2 months: DTaP (2 weeks later - Prevnar)

ditto for 4 months and 6 months (but together if no reaction to the first round)

9 months: Hib (2 weeks later - Pneumococcal)

ditto for 12 and 15 months.

    18 months and 21 months - polio/hep A

24 months - MMR (at earliest)

school age - pox (if no natural immunity) and hep b

    no flu or rotovirus

why? bc i don't like giving more than 1 vax at a time until you *know* that there is no reaction. and bc i know what the vaxes are for and some are totally unnecessary/not needed til much later.

  • 2 month Hep B, D-Tap Roto

    3 month Pc, HIb

4 Month, D-tap, roto, pc, hib

6 months (today) same as 4 month with Hep B

between now and one year we will catch up on polio and maybe get flu

    1 year, mmr

between 1 year and 15 months catch up on hep A and maybe chicken pox

    15 months hib pc

18 months dtap, polio, hep a (assuming no reactions when hep a and polio were given by themselves, if a reaction did happen, then these will be separated)

between 18 months and kindergarten get caught up on any that were missed.

we did this because i was concerned with giving so many at once and not knowing which one he was having a reaction too. so we started out with 2 at a time and then if no reactions were noted, then grouped them together.  we worked this out between our pedi and we all discussed pros and cons and what we were confortable with.

  • Spaced out and selective (no heb b until much later, no flu, no rotavirus...well, she got one dose).

She is not in daycare and we feel that she's more at risk for vaccine reactions than actual diseases at this point. Not to mention, since we've done it this way, she's had no bad side effects- no high fever or anything like that.

We do plan to have her mostly vaccinated by the time she starts school though.

  • We are on the traditional vaccine schedule b/c DS goes to daycare and state law requires it.

so FL does not have any waivers? (not snarky - im always interested about state to state vax stuff).

  • None yet. Maybe after 18 months we will see what (if any) she will get.
  • Traditional, yes I did research, talked extensively with my Pedi about it, and I am comfortable with it.  My DD has not had any reaction yet.

No - they're pretty hardcore:  "The State of Florida does not grant exemptions from immunizations based on personal or philosophical reasons."  It really stinks b/c there are so many vaccines that are due in that 12-15 month old period - I am going to try to break those up as much as possible so he's not getting 4 shots at once or something ridiculous.  I believe the MMR shot should be given solo anyway, no?

yes. it should. especially not with the pox vax, imo. but that is interesting about FL. texas is a "whatever reason you want" state basically. lol
