Ugh, re: job & TTC plans. WDYT?

So, after 6mths of speculation, it is finally going ahead that our new bldg & warehouse will open next summer. Guess which staff member will almost 100% run this project? It was jokingly, but not jokingly, said in our staff mtg today that no-one should plan any vacations for June. Which most importantly means me. We were planning on TTC next cycle which would put me at a May baby. Disastrous for my job.

What do I do? I wouldn't mind pushing TTC a few mths, but what if the bldg gets delayed & isn't finished on time or something? Then I'm in the same boat. Ugh, not sure what to do.

  • I personally wouldn't put off TTC because of a potential work obligation, especially a tentative one that may or may not end up being a scheduling conflict. GL!

  • Personally I would not put of TTC, but I guess it depends  how badly you need your job.  What would happen if you were pregnant and on maternity leave?  Can they fire you for that?

  • I would not put it off, but thats because it takes us a while to get pg.  You say "Disastrous" - does that mean that you would not have a job if you became pg?  In which case, that is against the law as I know it.
  • I know, while it is not guaranteed that I would be pg first mth of trying, there is a chance. I have been pg twice in my life (lost a pg) & they were both 1-shot tries. Unprotected sex means there's always a chance.

And by disastrous, I just mean that I don't know how the company would do this whole warehouse move without me. I wouldn't lose my job (I think you're right, that must be illegal?) but of all times of the 4yrs (5 by then) I've worked here, this will be the single most important month of my career.

  • IMVHO I would not put off TTC for my job...
