Preventing "blow-outs"

Does anyone have tips on preventing blow-outs? My son is 4 1/2 months and just started rice cereal, so I know why it's happening. But how to make sure it doesn't get everywhere? We just upgraded him a size in diapers, so we thought that would help, but as of this morning, it backfired! Could they be too loose?

Re: Preventing "blow-outs"

  • I found that different diapers worked better then others to contain blowouts.

With my DS, believe it or not, Luvs worked the best!

  • I know you don't want to hear this, but we have never had a blowout in a cloth diaper! Big Smile

They could be too big also. Is it coming out the legs or up the back/front?

  • It comes up the back (way up).
  • I've only ever had blow outs when she's been in the wrong size (too small). IDK though if you just moved up a size. My DD has been on rice cereal for a while, and that hasn't caused her to have blow outs.
  • We are having this same problem, it usually goes up the back.  I was hoping moving up in diaper size was going to help, we were headed out to get them tonight.  That stinks that it's not working for you though!
  • moving up one size usually helps but we also found that trying different brands of diapers helped for us too.  We switched from Huggies to pampers cruisers for DS and have never had a problem since.
