I loved getting massages pre pregnancy, but I am wondering how relaxing they would be while pregnant. I am assuming they have a different way to massage our backs since we can't lay on our stomachs.
Is it easy to relax during one? Is an hour too long, should I do a half hour? Thanks!
Re: Prenatal Massage, worth it?
They are very worth it!! Try to find a place that has a maternity table so you can lay on your stomach. My chiro doesn't have a maternity table and they have me lay on my side, it is really comfortable, and I absolutely love it.
I had one in April for my birthday. I guess I was around 22 weeks along... but I had enough of a belly to need the maternity pillow they use. It was wonderful. If my medical expenses had been less, I'd have scheduled one for now.
Go for it! Just make sure that the massage therapist is certified in prenatal massage as well. There are certain pressure points that should NOT be massaged as they can (although rarely) cause uterine contractions/preterm labor.
