I developed an awful gag reflex when brushing my teeth while pregnant. I would try a few different things. And since I work for a dentist, I know its super important that you still brush and floss everyday while pregnant.
1. Use no tooth paste, do a really good cleaning, then use toothpaste at the end for that fresh feeling/smell, and to get any stubborn plaque off.
2. Invest in a childrens toothpastes- the mild fruity flavors sometimes help more then the over powering minty ones.
3. Brush at night when your m/s isnt as bad (or if you ahve all day sickness, when you are feeling better)
4. Switch to a toddler brush, since its smaller, it might not hit that gag reflex.
Also most insurences cover a third annual cleaning (instead of just two) while you are pregnant, since gum disease has been linked to premature births. So definatly look into that! Good luck, hope that helped!

I had the same problem when I was pregnant too. I would use very little tooth paste and I would spit out often any of the tooth paste foam... I figured out thats what made me throw up.

oh yes, and it was horrible! I had it until about 18 weeks or so too until it went away. I had to switch toothpaste and that helped a little bit. good luck!

I gag every time without fail when I brush my teeth. I still haven't thrown up during this pregnancy, so for me it's just gagging. It's an awful feeling. I'm sorry I don't have any advice.
Brushing my teeth is always what triggers my gagging/throwing up. I have switched toothpaste/toothbrush and I still throw up or dry heave. Sorry I'm no help, but I wanted to let you know you aren't alone!
I use arm and hammer toothpaste bc every other toothpaste makes me sick to my stomach even when I'm not pregnant. It is so much fresher and crisper feeling and tasting instead of creamy yuck. Good luck

This. Sorry I have no advice. I'm stalking your post to see if I can get some advice on this too. GL.

I was going to post this exact same thing. ?Brushing my teeth totally makes me gag, and cleaning my tongue is pretty much impossible.
Thanks Emma for the tips!
