sippy cup?

When do you start encouraging it and what do you put in it? DD is a little over 6 months and EBF so we don't really even use a bottle, but I know eventually she will need to learn how to use a sippy. I plan to BF till one year unless she has other plans.

    We started around that age and just put water in it.  It takes awhile for them to get used to it.

    My LO is constantly trying to steal her older brother's sippy. It's hilarious Big Smile I kind of have a feeling she may start using one sooner than later because she seems to really like it!

    My DD drinks out of a cup.  I'm going to try to forgo the sippy cup

    my ds started at about 6 months only b/c he kept trying to take his sisters cup. he doesn't really get anything out of it but he does if we use the nuby cup. i just put water in it for now.

    i've tried it a bunch of times but she cant get the hang of it. so i bought ones that you dont really suck on- just pours out- she gets half in her mouth and half on herself. i only do water. she likes cups too but cant do that alone!

    i haven't really pushed it. she is a super determined little girl so i am not worried. i never showed her how to hold a bottle- she just grabbed it a month ago and started feeding herself.

    And it's okay to give them water?? I don't know why I thought for some reason you didn't start giving them water until later. I am learning all kinds of info tonight!
