1st Trimester

They already know what I am having...

Everyone is saying its a boy. I have no symptoms really to prove that its a boy or a girl, but every family member is saying its a boy. Even a few friends. This annoys me because with my last DD, everyone said boy too-- AND THEY WERE WRONG. And because I wanted a boy I got my hopes up.

Anyone else have people already assuming the sex?! And do you find it slightly frustrating because then YOU think... maybe it is a boy/girl??

Re: They already know what I am having...

  • My mother and one of my sisters are convinced I am having a girl and my MIL thinks I am having a boy.  Well, at least one of them is right!

  • Everyone but my mom is convinced that it's a boy.  DH and I both have a feeling it's a boy too.  We'll see :o

  • I think when you already have one (or two or more) of one sex, everyone automatically assumes the next baby is the other sex. ?Because yes, already the few people we've told are SURE this baby is a girl. ?Every one of them. ?

It doesn't really bug me, but I'm not buying it, either. ?I feel like it's a boy, and I don't care either way.?

  • I am assuming I am having a girl actually and so does DH. Which totally sucks because we got boy names narrowed down to two and still have not come up with a girl name.
  • My husband wants, and is convinced it's a boy.. I am certain it's a girl by the way I feel.. and statistically, within our families, it should be a girl.. heh.  He's going to be pretty disappointed come September 17th and our ultrasound says Girl ;)

  • Everyone says its a boy!!! I told them they are going to be mighty surprised if it shows up a girl. DH's mom wanted to buy a train set already!!
  • Everyone is telling me im having a boy!!! except for my brother in law he says we are gonna have a girl cause my husband is cursed to having nothing but girls lol... its pretty annoying.. I am hoping for a girl Big Smile and my husband wants a boy..
  • Not yet, but then we haven't been around DH's parents and they are the ones who do that sort of thing. I am having annoying name suggestions, like Dallas from the relatives who live up there and think that is a good boy or girl name. About six months after my son was born my FIL announced he would pay $3000 to the first girl born in the family (since it's between me and DH's sister that wasn't weird or anything).  I told him I would be sure to tell his future grandsons he didn't want them.

    People don't think.

  • H swears it is a girl.  i have no idea what he is basing this on.

  • I think I'm having a boy and so do a lot of other people. Doesn't bother me. I just think this because my symptoms are so different than with DD...must be a boy, right? :)

  • Everyone swore I was having a girl when I was pregnant with DS.  Even all the Chinese Calendars said girl!  Surprise surprise we had a boy!  I'm not even going to think about it until it's confirmed on the u/s this time!

  • Totally!  Everyone thinks it's a boy.  I was hoping for a girl (happy with whatever God gives us, but hoping for a girl).  Now I'm thinking it has to be a boy too.  I wish people would keep their guesses to themselves!

With DS everyone said girl - people would stop me in stores and swear up and down that I was having a girl - not one single person said boy - and we had a boy! :)

  • My MIL is convinced it is a girl because there are no other girls for 2 generations in my DH's family.  She already has 2 grandsons so she has her heart set on a Granddaughter, which is fine except part of me feels sad if it is a boy he wont be as spoiled by her.....Atleast he will be by us

  • Everyone in my family (except my aunt) thinks it's a girl because there are only grandsons right now.  My aunt thinks it's a girl because I "seem like a boy-mom."  Which really annoys me...
  • Yes & MIL has had his name picked out since the day we told them. She thinks boy. DH & I secretly hope for a boy to carry the last name although publicly we say "healthy" is all we care about. Its between us & his cousin in college to have a boy to carry on the name. I just smile & say uh-huh sure, whatever you think. We'll find out in Feb!

  • I'm hoping for a boy. My mom, neice, nephew all think it's a girl. They are always saying "she".

  • No one really had an opinion with the first one.  But my Grandma told me this one would be a boy...before I was even pg.  She said she just decided it for me.

  • Everyone that knows which is about 6 people right now thinks its a boy except 2 people (my husband and I). There are nothing but boys in MH family but im holding onto the hope that it could be a girl since he does have a sister but shes the only girl on that side of the family. Either way well be happy as long as they are healthy.
  • My MIL is absolutely positive that we're having a boy, but only because she doesn't want a granddaughter.  When my nephew was born my SIL jokingly told her it was a girl, and MIL was bummed.  Like, I-won't-love-this-baby-as-much-as-my-grandson bummed.

  • My father and I were sure that my first was a girl. But EVERY single other person said boy.  Not one person said girl.  Even randome people like cashiers said boy.  It got to the point that I started questioning my thought as well.  Like you I was hoping for a boy but am thrilled with DD.
