These posts really helped me when I was on mat leave and struggling with the idea of going back to work. Post your reasons on why you love being a Working Mom!
I love being a Working Mom because it gives me a reason to get showered and dressed everyday, I love being able to interact with my coworkers and boss, I love taking pride in my work and the accomplishment of getting something "done" and crossing it off my to-do list. I love that I am able to pump at work and continue to BF my baby. I love walking into daycare and picking up my daughter and seeing her face light up when she realizes "It's Momma!" I love that my income allows my family to be able to save money, eat delicious food, have occasional "date nights" with DH, and have really great medical benefits.
I love the perks that come with my job. I love that all of my coworkers stop by my desk to admire pictures of my daughter. I love that working has given me the confidence that "I can do it". My Mom was a Working Mom, and I hope to be that great role model for my daughter.
Re: I love being a Working Mom because...
I love my job.
I love being mentally challenged.
I get to work on really interesting cases and with really smart, talented people.
My work is important to society.
There is a reason I didn't major in early childhood education (i.e., I'm not necessarily cut out for full time wee people care).
It affords us a much more comfortable lifestyle.
It helps pay back my student loans and allows me to use my degrees.
It allowed us to survive DH being unemployed for almost 6 months (today is his first day at his new job) unscathed.
Here was my post from a few weeks ago entitled 'I love being a working mom' (:
"I'm writing this because I have two weeks left of maternity leave with my daughter and I can't wait to go back to work. I have two fantastic children - a 2-yr old boy, Andrew, and a 2-month old girl, Isabel. They are the most amazing people and I am extremely lucky to have them in my life. But I'm ready to interact with adults (to talk about something other than kids!) and to go back to the challenge of my job. I am looking forward to trying to drive my company forward to do some really good things in the next few years.
I love being a working mom because I feel like I have an opportunity outside of my home to do something really good in the world. I love being a working mom because it allows my husband to work at a job that lets him have dinner with his family and put his kids to bed at night. I love being a working mom because it makes me a better person and a better mom. I love being a working mom because it allows me to give things to my children that I didn't know I would be able to (both material and non-material). I am thankful to work with and for amazing people who allow me flexibility to spend time with my kids and be there when they really need me.
Being working mom is exhausting but amazingly rewarding and I love it!
Thanks for listening (: "
Nothing has changed - still love it!
I really enjoy my job-- it's fun, I feel like I'm doing something important, and I enjoy my coworkers.
I like feeling financially stable and being able to provide for my family (we couldn't afford to go without my income at this point)
My son is thriving, we have a great bond, and he is the most wonderful thing in my life. Working doesn't change that.
My life is so full! (mostly in a good way!)
Because I have my own money to spend!!!!!
Because I love picking up DD at the end of the day and hearing her yell "Mommy!!".
Because DH doesn't have to carry around the burden of being the sole supporter for our family.
Because we already have a good chunk of change in DDs college fund.
Because I can buy my nephews lots of presents and spoil them.
Because my family can take 2 nice vacations each year.
Because I don't have to second guess/rethink every purchase I'm about to make.
Because DD is thriving at daycare and absolutely LOVES it.
Because in this economy I can feel financially secure.
Because I am fortunate enough to have my mother be my daycare.
Because it really makes me appreciate the time I have with my DS even more.
Because it allows us to already have a college fund for my DS.
Because it allows us to have health insurance.
Because it is my socialization and mental stimulation.
because I love my job and I love being mentally challenged. I love DD will grow up having a professional mom and role model. I love that DD has great providers and has expanded her bonds to more beyond family. I think me going back to work was good for both of us.
Thank you all so much for this post...it was perfect timing. Today was DD's first day at daycare and I was really mixed about how I felt about it. I'm a teacher, so she actually won't be going until September, but I have a one week conference this week and so this is our trial run. She was smiling when I dropped her off and exhausted when I picked her up. Our provider said she was fussy this morning, but content this afternoon when all the other kids were napping. It's going to take some getting used to for both of us, but all of your words just inspired me, and helped me to feel as if this is the right thing for me...as I have thought it was since the beginning, but now that it's here I was starting to have doubts.
Thank you.
