Babies: 0 - 3 Months

I know she's not supposed to have a routine yet but...

Since Friday night, DD has been falling asleep around 9PM, wakes up around 1AM to feed, and then wakes up again between 2:40-3AM and is up being fussy/crying until around 8:30AM and remains fussy for the rest of the day.  I don't know what to do anymore.  I make sure her tummy is full, diaper is clean, I swaddle, unswaddle, lay her on my chest, burp her...nothing is working and I'm soooo tired.

What can I do to get her to sleep longer around 3AM??

Re: I know she's not supposed to have a routine yet but...

  • My DS just started getting into a routine this past week...in bed between 6:30-7pm, feed 2-3 times during the night, and then up for good between 6-7am. It will happen naturally, just give it time.

This is coming from a mom of an EXTREMELY high maintenance baby. All of a sudden, DS likes doing things more solo now, I'm certainly not doing anything different! :)

  • My kid still does this and he is 3.5 months old...  tired doesn't begin to describe it.  Big hugs to you.

  • My only suggestion for getting her to sleep more in those early morning hours would be to make sure all the lights are out, and keep her swaddled while you're nursing her. That used to give us a pretty good chance of getting DS back to sleep. Maybe even just letting her stay in the bed with you if she's asleep after you nurse. 'Course, for all I know, you're already doing all of that. Big hugs and good luck!
