Has anyone been there? Jason and I are looking for a place to go for a couple of days in a few weeks and someone suggested that town to me. If you've been, do you recommend going? Or any other of the towns near there?
Brenda - a few years ago you sent me a whole big thing on different towns to visit and of course I can't find it. Was this one that you liked?
Re: Holland, Michigan
ME! Its like 20 minutes from me! Go there! Stay here. (We did our babymoon there.) Eat here and here.
You could also visit Grand Haven. FAB town. Or Saugatuck, though I've never been there.

I'd totally trust Lauren's recs, since she's been there! :-)
For what it's worth, we like Saugatuck much better than Holland or Grand Haven, but probably just because we drive through Holland and Grand Haven every time we go to my parents house (so they don't seem as special). Parts of Holland and Grand Haven are right on a main road, but Saugatuck is tucked back away from the hubub (but still easy to get to).
Saugatuck has my favorite beach that I've ever been to... but it's a pretty long hike through the woods to get there - I don't know if you'd want to do it while you're pregnant (depending on how pregnant you are!). Plus, one of my other Saugatuck favorites are the dune rides - again, something you might not want to do while pregnant! Saugatuck has a great downtown area, and we always love to get ice cream from Kilwin's (though Holland has one, too). I guess Saugatuck just feels more "resorty" to me than the others.
Holland has a pretty decent outlet mall - their Carter's is much bigger and nicer than the one in Michigan City that I usually go to.
You'll have a fab time in any of those towns - Holland, Grand Haven, or Saugatuck. :-)
Seriously? Gah. I hate when special places go commercial. Like, yay for you and your success, but boo.
I worked at Rivertown Crossing for a while in college. The Buckle. Oh, yes, I did. And I was a superstar seller. That was right before John Ball Zoo doing PR (summer internship). Seriously, I want to go back to the zoo and work there forever.
Of course you worked at the Buckle!
I live 1.2 miles from the mall, BTW. It's dangerous, especially with a Gymboree in there.
My favorite parts about working at the mall:
1) Opening time = crazy mall walkers... like, DO NOT get in their way
2) Leaving time = luckiest parking spot stalkers ever, since showing up before the mall opened secured the best spots
3) Closing time = crazy, drunk people from Kahuanaville (which is no longer there I noticed on my last visit!) wandering around the (closed) mall
4) Crazy mall stories: Someone broke into Barnes and Noble when I worked (next door) at the Buckle. He crawled up into the ceiling panels in the bathroom and then crawled back out and into the store after they closed. Unfortunately for him, he tripped some alarm. Like, what are you going to steal from a Barnes and Noble in a mall? Or, was he just hoping to hang out and read all night, then sneak back out when they were open? Like... WTF?
Sorry we hijacked your post, Laura!
Brenda, that is CRAZYtown. Seriously.
