Ugh, this is not nice. (Insurance vent)

I received an email the other day that our insurance contractor is going to be changed early next year.  After I have the baby but shortly after when there are still plenty of doctors visits is when the change will happen.  One of the contractors is going to be Aetna.  I hate them with a passion and had nothing but problems with them in the past.  They are so bad in this area that many of the doctors here will not accept them for insurance because they never pay their claims or pay so little that doctor's offices don't want to deal with them.  Last time I had them I was going for my yearly check-up which should have been covered since I hadn't had one in close to two years.  They covered $15 of the visit.  I was sent a bill for the rest on top of my already paid co-pay.  When I tried to find a new primary care physician I called ten different places that was listed in my provider directory and they had all stopped accepting Aetna because of their cruddy practices.  I am really not happy and feeling somewhat distraught over this.  I can only imagine if I get a breast infection or mastitis (knock on wood) or if either child needs an extraneous office visit what that's going to cost or what kind of hassle that's going to entail.

And I know this is shallow, but it's something that I am looking forward to because they just don't go down with weight loss.  They never have....  I'm currently at least a 36K possibly an L or higher depending on the bra.  I was hoping to get a breast reduction to be more comfortable and hopefully have a lot less back pain when my nursing relationship is done with my children.  Currently it's covered without issues for someone my size.  I have a feeling that it's going to be nothing but huge hurdles if Aetna is still the contractor in a couple years when I'd like to get this done.  Ugh!  Ok, I know this is all small potatoes in the grand scheme of things, but this is just something I didn't want to worry about.

  • I feel your pain.  We are having to switch providers in August when I am 8 months pregnant. Tongue Tied  I hope that you have a smooth transition and that your reduction can be covered.  It's such a hassle and so much to worry about.

  • Oh I'm sorry. That really sucks. I am attempting to get my OB changed today because the army providers here suck, wish me luck...hopefully insurance will just give me a referral and be done with it.
