Parenting after a Loss

Hi from Peachy & baby Owen :)

We just got home from the hospital yesterday afternoon and it was a rough night for me emotionally - just super teary & had nightmares all night. I'm VERY happy and no sad thoughts, just crazy emotional & teary. Today has been better - my IL's are staying with us and have truly been angels....doing all the cooking, cleaning, laundry, running errands and doing the yard stuff, we're so lucky.

Owen's doing great - feeding well, lots of wet & dirty diapers and pretty much napping  during the day.  We just tried him in the swing tonight and he really likes it :)

I'm still beyond exhausted, but healing well.  I'm able to get up & down from the couch (and bed) without help, had my 1st bowel movement yesterday (thank goodness!), I can go up & down the stairs slowly and my pain is totally tolerable as long as I take my meds a few times during the day.  My bb's however are starting to get engorged & that hurts :(  As much as we were going to try breastfeeding, after our LONG labor and being concerned about Owen getting enough (since he was early) we went with bottle feeding.

Just before we left the hospital, my OB checked my Pre-E labs again and they were NORMAL :)  Also, my BP's were back to normal after our delivery, so I'm not on BP meds anymore :)

I promise I will post our birth story in a bit, it's very emotional to recall all that happened and this is the most I've been on the computer since we've been home.  But....all is well, we're resting & healing and Owen's 1st peds appointment is on Wednesday, so I'll probably update after that :)

We love all you gals SO much and could not have gotten through all of this without your support, prayers and love :)  Dh is keeping the blog updated, so feel free to visit it at:

  • Hi Back!  Glad to hear you are home and things are going well.  Owen is ADORABLE!
  • I'm so glad things are going well and your health seems to be back in check!  But I want you to know that even if you aren't feeling 100% happy and you are having some sad thoughts, that is completely OK, alright?  There are so many of us on here who went through all levels of PPD and baby blues or just sad, rough days when we felt overhwhelmed and unprepared and we're here if you need us!  It doesn't mean you love Owen any less or aren't grateful for being a mother and having a healthy baby at home:)

Welcome to Mommyhood!  Big hugs to you and Owen!

  • Congrats Momma!!! We are sooo happy that you've made it over here :) Keep us updated!
