Adoption

We're certifiably crazy now...

We're going to do it and go for Baby #2 who is due just a couple of months after Payton!  There are a few hoops to jump through because s/he is American Indian, but we're prepared and things are looking pretty good!

Re: We're certifiably crazy now...

  • That is super exciting and crazy too!!  WOW:)  You would certainly be doubly blessed to bring home two little ones so close together!

  • WOW, that is amazing!

  • Yay!  Congrats!!  So excited for you...craigslist will be your best friend when you go to look for doubles of everything!  I'd be happy to answer any questions you might have.

(p.s.  Being of Inupiat descent, generally the best term to use is Native American.)

  • Wow, Mrs.B!  I'm so happy for you!  Good luck through both processes, and may your family always be blessed and happy!
  • So exciting! How fun and I hope everything continues to go well!!
  • whoah what did i miss?!?!!?
Married on 3.20.2004. It took 30 month, 2 failed adoptions and IVF for our first miracle. We have had 9 foster kids since he was born and started the domestic adoption process when he was 10 month old, we had 4 failed matches in that time. After our daughter was born we brought her home and spent 2 weeks fearing we might lose her because of complications that came up. But Praise God all went through and she is ours forever! Expecting again after IVF Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker

  • Thanks for the correction Sally -- I should have known that, she (birthmother) has been referring to it as AI all morning in our emails and it was just at the forefront of my mind.  I'm 1/32 Cherokee myself.  And I'm sure I will have lots of questions!
  • yes you are, but clearly i'm not one to judge :P

FWIW: this will always be a debate and neither is wrong according to tribal affairs groups and most actually would rather be known  by their tribe affiliation (instead of saying they are NA or AI .. say they are Cherokee or a member of the navajo tribe, etc).

Anyway - congrats! This will be the most difficult and exciting adventure!

  • eeeeek!! oh my goodness! congrats :) thats sooo exciting!
  • Yay! I'm so happy for you!!?

    You guys are champions!!?

  • Ohhh i'm so jealous lol. We told our agency we really wished a situation would come along for us to adopt a child of any native american descent.

My great grandma was full Cherokee and the other side of my family has Indian in it also. Both sides are very keen on our Indian heritage! Plus my DH's stepfamily are all full Indian!!

  • Congrats! Two bundles of joy.
  • wow!!!  twin mommas do it all the time.  you can do it!!!!
  • Are you going to share name choices for another girl?

    AND boys!?

You should let me name them. I'm very good ;D ?

  • If it's a boy Jacob Landry.

If it's a girl, I like Poppy Grace.  But my DH is determined to get Landry in there somewhere (and he thinks we're only having two kids...little does he know...), so it might be Landry Grace.  :)

  • I LOVE the name Poppy! But Poppy and Payton is a lot of "Ps!"?

I think Landry is super cute!

    Payton and Landry...goes good. :)

    And Jacob..classic. ?

My BFF has been trying to get anyone who will listen to name their girl Poppy! :) Sooooo cute!

Grace is our girl middle name pick too. But that is about as far as we have gotten. lol??

  • Congrats! ?That so exciting.?
  • It is a lot of P's!  But I love Poppy so much if he agrees, I'll just stutter P-p-p-p-p and one of them will listen (hopefully).

DH picked both Payton (Walter Payton) and Landry (Tom Landry).  So I figure I should get to pick names eventually!  I would love another girl so they can share a room, but would be absolutely thrilled with a boy too!

  • You can always yell out..."You! You with the face!" if it's a true emergency and one of them is bound to turn around ;D?
  • Oh!! Oh oh oh!! MrsB that is just such awesome news!! I am so thrilled for you! I hope everything goes super perfect for you!!!
