Parenting after a Loss

In Key West and DD won't take bottle...

Seriously I can't believe this. We've been giving her a bottle once/twice a week since she was about a week or two old. We didn't give her one for a few weeks and now she ABSOLUTELY refuses. We bought different nipples for the Dr. Brown's bottles and then we bought First Years Breastflow Bottles and we tried all the tricks. Stinks that we're on vacation. I can't go on the boat during the day (we won't take her- too hot and out too long) b/c she can't go that long with no food and I can't go out at night really b/c she is still night feeding. I am so not happy. Last year when we were here I was 6 weeks pregnant so I couldn't go in the bars (way too smoky) and I had morning sickness at all hours. I told my DH, mom, and friends that I WILL NOT be pregnant for this trip next year or I won't be coming. I'm sorry to vent but I am about to have a breakdown. I love DD SOOO much but I am in desperate need of some mommy time with my friends. Thanks for reading.

  • oh no! I am so sorry! I really hoped the breastflow bottles would work for you! I don''t remember who it was, but I feel like someone on here had a similar problem last week.. and basically they just let the baby go and if she got hungry enough she would take the bottle.. Is it freshly pumped milk? A girl at my mommy and me group today had trouble with some of her frozen milk..I don't know.. but it stinks for you!

  • Ugh, how frustrating! I hope she decides to take one soon...you deserve some mommy time!
  • Kiran started refusing a bottle right before he was due to go into daycare. ?If he refused it, we just waited a little while and tried again. ?When he got hungry enough he sucked it down. ?I've also heard that rubbing the nipple on you to get your smell on it helps. ?Good luck! ?

  • Isla does that occasionally. but if she gets hungry enough she'll eat. Don't worry that you're starving her. She will eat if she needs it. My pedi said babies really only need a couple of good fill ups a day anyway and as long as you're getting plenty of diapers, don't sweat it.
