Parenting after a Loss

THANK YOU ladies!! (and an update)

So I posted and ran, literally this morning.. Hit post and walked out the door.. I got on on my phone this afternoon and checked the post and i was SO overwhelmed at all your kind responses!! I was already having a kind of emotional day (i'll do a separate post about that).. and I was sitting in starbucks reading the posts and I wanted to cry! It means so much to me to have the support from you ladies..

So I took Eve to a mommy and me group at my LCs store today.. so I weighed her there and did a weigh and feed.. She has gained AT LEAST 10oz in the past two weeks..  She took 3oz in the weigh and feed, which isn't a ton but she didn't nurse great or for very long (i'd say like 5-10 mins total).. And she still eats like 7-8 times a day, so its on the low side for oz... but not absurdly low..  So basically.. I was really happy with all of that, and it has, at least temporarily encouraged me to keep working toward my goal of 6 months and then I will go from there with either supplementing with formula or switching all together..

she also just nursed really well at this past feeding.. no fighting me or anything.. So today is a brighter day.

  • Yay! I am glad things are looking up!
  • i'm so glad you took her to a weigh and feed.  i found those so helpful when hadley was struggling with nursing after my supply tanked.  it helped to put things into perspective.  it's so hard when you are nursing to estimate how much they are actually getting so it's nice to be able to see the true amount.  keep us posted on how things are going.
