Okay so DH is very anxious to get out of the house with Kane. He really wants to take him to, well pretty much anywhere. I know it is better to keep him home for awhile, but how soon did you take LO out for an outing? It wouldn't be anything big just to lunch or a short trip as I am BF and Kane isn't on a regular schedule just yet. TIA!!

I think we didn't take him anywhere except for the pedi until he was about 2 weeks old, but I think the pedi said to wait until 1 month. I just put him in the peanut shell so he was close to me so strangers wouldn't get near him.

First time out was to go to Target and Costco for supplies
It was great. I felt like I could stretch my legs a bit after being cramped inside but didn't feel too overwhelmed. He slept almost the whole time.
He woke up once and wanted to eat at Costco but luckily they had a glider on display there so I parked it, put on the udder cover and bf him... first outing, first time bf in public.
We limited our outings to once every few days and always kept him in the Hotsling so people couldn't touch/see him just in case. GL!
My grandmother wasn't well when EC was born, so we went to her appt on our way home from the hospital. There were probably about 10 people there.
She passed away when EC was 11 days old, so we had her memorial service and viewing.
After all that, I kind of felt like it was a free for all on going out. Once I could drive, two weeks after my discharge, I went out almost every day. Seriously, it helped EC sleep better. It was the weirdest thing but it worked for us.
I think as long as you feel comfortable, then you should go out. Personally, I think I would have been depressed if I had felt like I was stuck in the house.

We took DD to a family friend's graduation party when she was 5 days old. Being born in June, it wasn't cold/flu season, and we just kept her in the stroller with a strict no touching rule. It worked out great and it was nice to get out of the house and socialize.
If you do go out, be sure it's somewhere you can rest. It's amazing how trying it is to be out and about after sitting around the hospital/house for so many days. And stay hydrated! Good luck and enjoy your first outing.
