Success after IF

Endo Ladies - Please come in

Hi Gals:

I usually post on TTTC but need some advice/words of wisdon from you ladies.  I had my lap 2 weeks ago and they found stage 1 endo.  Everything was cleaned up and he said it looks good.  So a few questions.  How long after you were diagnosed/had your lap did you get pregnant?  Did you get pregnant on your own or did you do IUI/IVF?  Are they any other tests you would suggest having after being diagnosed with endo?  Any other advice about dealing with endo would be much appreciated!

Thanks so much!!

Re: Endo Ladies - Please come in

  • I had a lap (and had Stage 1 endo removed) between IVF #1 and #2.  RE really didn't think she'd find endo, but she did. After the lap we did one injectible IUI cycle (BFN). We did IVF #2 about 4 months after the lap, and that one worked.

I didn't have any other testing done (after finding the endo), and I'm not sure what tests there would be. GL!

  • I had my lap in Feb. of 08 and was waiting for AF when I found out I was pregnant with DD in March.

We were told we had < 1% chance of getting pg naturally, and would have gone forward with an injectable IUI cycle

Good luck! An Endo diagnosis, although seemingly grim, is not always the case!

  • I had a lap and was diagnosed with mild endo in Nov. 06  We did Clomid and two IUI's and had one m/c before moving on to IVF in July '07.  We were lucky to that IVF #1 worked for us.
  • i had 3 laps (2 during the TTTC stage). i have stage 3 endo. i really believe that my last surgery, which was a month before my 3rd IVF helped a great deal becuase they removed alot from my ovaries which seemed to help with egg quality. it may depend on where it was removed. it's a shame because they still really don't know enough and most doctors don't fully understand the disease.

my strongest advice, if you decide to pursue assisted treatment, is to watch how many medicated cycles you do. my doctor only wnated us to do 1 IUI becuase the meds can fed the endo. we did 2, becuase we needed one more try before moving on to IVF for our own benefit.

i'm not on here too often anymore, but if you need to chat, you can email me. loree at hotmail dot com.

  • so sorry. the email is actually lor2es at hotmail dot com.
  • I had my lap in April 2008 and conceived for the first time that same cycle (I had the lap on CD21 and ovulated somewhere around CD37). I m/c at six weeks that time, but conceived again three months later during a monitored natural cycle.

My endo was minor but I'm convinced its removal is what allowed me to conceive.

    Good luck!

  • I was diagnosed with stage one endo.  I got PG my first medicated cycle after my lap using IUI.  I was on clomid, got a trigger shot and prednisone (for PCOS).  I have heard lots of positive stories about BFP soon after those tubes are all clear.  My advice, be agressive the first few cycles after your lap so you have the highest change of getting PG while you are all clear and before anything grows back.  I hope that makes sense.  Good luck!

  • I was diagnosed with mild endo after my first lap in late Nov.  We did a break cycle over the holidays because we were visiting family in Florida.  We did an injectible cycle in Jan. which was a bfn.  Had to sit out a cycle due to fiances and did another injectible cycle in March when we finally got our BFP.

If it had solely been  up to me I would have been much more aggressive about doing back to back treatment cycles.  But DH and I had differing opinions on this.  The lap is definatly what helped us.  My RE said after the surgery that our chances of concieving had greatly improved and to give it 6 months before discussing IVF.

After 2 years TTC with mild endo and an elevated FSH. We were successful with our second IUI after Lap surgery. Our daughter born 12/2009. Currently trying for #2. IUI#1-miscarriage, IUI #2-BFN, IUI #3- BFP Pregnancy Ticker
  • I had stage IV endo and had a lap done about 7 years ago.  I wasn't married etc and had no thoughts of children at the time.  I went to an RE for the endo because I had a large clot inside my ovary and uterine adhesions.  After the lap, I was on continuous birth control for about 5 years.  My RE was convinced that the endo wouldn't cause me any problems when I wanted to start a family.

DH and I started trying right after our wedding 2 years ago.  It took about 18 months and 3 medicated cycles (Clomid 100 mg and progesterone worked!).  My RE did an HSG when we started having trouble to rule out any problems with my tubes.  She let the dye run through a little longer after it went through my tubes to see about any "spider webs" leftover from the endo.  She didn't see any problems so she said to continue the drugs for a few cycles and we got lucky.

    Good luck!
