I am 30 weeks. Am I speeking too soon, or is it safe to say I just may not get them? Or is this just wishful thinking? I CAN get them, I have old old ones from when I took on my desk job.
I hate to tell you this, but you could still get them. I got a couple of beauties right below my belly button over the past week. But you still may NOT get them! So keep your fingers crossed!
the last ten weeks your belly will get it's biggest so there is still a chance. I didn't get a single stretch mark during my pregnancy so there is hope
Yeah I thought I was safe too, then 27-28 wks hit and BAMMMM!!!! lol! But not too bad..just right on mybelly...like 2 inches on either side of my belly button. And also on my sides...eeechhh! They will fade I'm sure..I had old ones from gaining and losing weight.
I don't think there is anything you can do to prevent to 100%. So women get them and others don't. I didn't have any until the start of last week, magically 4 developed.
I think the lotion just makes them less uncomfortable, at least for me.

don't jinx yourself. i totally didn't have any until about 28 or 29 wks. i made a comment about how i didn't have any yet. and POW! the next day i swear i had a freaking belt of them forming. it was traumatizing.
I thought I was totally in the clear last time, but then didn't realize they were under my belly where I couldn't see until I delivered...the good news, they sort of "went away" mostly after a few months for me, hoping to have the same good fortune this time.
Yep, I got mine later too...probably around 35 to 36 weeks. They kind of snuck up on me because they were on the lower part of my belly that I couldn't readily see. And now they just keep on growing!
yeah... i thought i was safe. and then i hit 37 weeks. and then there was a stretch mark explosion.
This. Practically overnight. I actually looked in the mirror, saying to myself, "Geez, really no stretchies?" and then I glimpsed them under my belly button... FWIW, I don't think they've gotten much bigger than since they appeared. But I still have a couple weeks left, and I know a few ladies said they got some AFTER L&D.
I had none at all until week 38, & then just a few minor ones on my inner thigh. One day before my scheduled C/S, they started popping up all over my butt, thighs, & belly, & more came w/in a few days after delivering too.
Sucks, believe me. My OB said use Bio Oil on them to help them fade.

I'm at 38 weeks and still all clear. I hope I can hold off for two more weeks. I have heard of women getting them after though. That would be very disappointing : (

some people have said they got them during the birth....so I would say you aren't out of the woods until you actually go home after havnig the baby....I brought my "cream ritual" to the hospital with me to put on for a few weeks after I had the baby to make sure that they don't show up! I know it isn't suppose to work...but it makes me feel like I am being preventative in some way or another! Didn't get any with DS and crossing my fingers with DD!!! Good luck to you as well!
I just found my first one a few days ago. Its only about an inch... but its def. a stretch mark
and my SIL didnt have ANY til she gave birth. Now she is covered. Everyone is different

Re: Stretch marks... if I havent gotten them?
my first ones showed up around 34 weeks, and a few weeks after that the vines started climbing up my belly from underneath.
sorry, you're not out of the woods yet.
MIL didn't have any all pg, but after she gave birth to DH she had them all over.
You are not out of the woods yet.

arrrrghhhhh.....i'm glad someone asked this question, but i'm hating the responses!
come on, mom's genes....keep on workin'!!!!
Is there any truth to them being hereditary? Have your experiences been consistent with other women in your family?
I'm in the same boat, nothing yet, so keeping my fingers crossed!

OMG this response is killing me!!!
I had the same question as I'm just shy of 30 weeks and have been in the clear so far. Sounds like they're just waiting and hiding out =(
