s/o Does your DS pick out his clothes too?

My 3 year old ds is now insisting on choosing his own outfits and he looks ridiculous.  He only wants to wear blue shirts and blue shorts.   I thought that only girls cared what they wear.

  • Mine could not care less. He wears whatever I put him in, so far.

We aren't there yet, thank God!  Every once in a while, he will insist on wearing his rainboots out and I just go with it.   He looks so ridiculous, its cute.

  • Yes, he started around 2 with shoes and shortly before turning 3 insisted on shoes and clothes.  90% of the time he picked out the clothes that are on him.  He's pretty good at matching though, so he rarely picks a top and bottoms that don't match.

  • He is just starting to care a little bit. He mostly cares about shoes and pants  - he only wants to wear his sneakers and gives a hissy fit if we try to have him wear non-khaki pants/shorts.

  • Yes, he does pick out his own clothes 90% of the time these days. See my sig picture, LOL.
  • I usually give him a choice, in an effort to head off any crazy combos.

He has very specific tastes, and he gets excited about clothes so I like to let him have some say.

He's currently obsessed w/ everything small paul (MONKEYS!  PIRATE MONKEYS!  OMG, SPACE MONKEYS!  It goes on and on), so I've been buying a lot of that for him.  He also likes to pick out his underwear (Thomas, Small Paul or Transformers) - he won't wear any of the other ones I've bought.  Turkey.

  • Yes, my DS will be 3 in October and he's been insisting on choosing his clothes most of this summer.  I don't give him free reign of the closet though, I pull out 2 acceptable outfits and let him choose between them.  He didn't always like his choices at first, but now he knows that if he doesn't pick from the choices I give him, then I pick.
  • He always wants to wear a dinosaur shirt.  Occasionally, he'll want to wear a rash guard when we're not going swimming, so I have to put my foot down.  He also refuses to wear any shoes that aren't Crocs.
