I have the reusable Medela cotton ones which I love for around the house. They are more breathable than the disposables. They definitely show through tops though so they're not really for public use. I used the Lansinoh disposables and they were good, also. Make sure you change them when they get wet!
I use the Medela disposable pads. I feel like they are the thinnest and most absorbent. I have also used the Lansinoh disposables which are also good and are better at sticking to the bra than medela but they are bigger and sometimes show through my bra. I have tried the Avent disposables, I do not recommend them, they are bulky and do not adhere well.

I love the J&J ones. I've tried the Medela and Gerber ones. Medela you could def see through my shirt and Gerber didnt quite get the job done! I recently had to buy the Avent ones, as BRU didnt have the J&J, and those work good too.

Re: Nursing Pads
I also use the J&J disposable ones. I think they are the least noticable.
