Breastfeeding

Question about PISA/output

I just double-pumped for the first time.  Typically I feed DS on one side and then pump the other.  Anyway, I was able to get about 2 oz. from my right breast but only drops (like barely enough to cover the bottom of the storage bottle) from my left.  The last time I BF, DS did eat on the left, but it still seems like I should have gotten more.  Could it be a problem with the pump or is it me?

Re: Question about PISA/output

  • Did you just feed? If so, that would seem normal to me.

Also, it's not uncommon for one breat to outperform the other while pumping. Righty consistently gets double or so what lefty does.

  • It's normal when you're just starting to pump.  Rigth after a feed, if I pump that same boob, I'll only get drops.  Try pumping after your first morning feeding, that's when I get the most.
