When did you start establishing a schedule?

A daily routine?

Re: When did you start establishing a schedule?

  • I'd like to know this as well.  So far we just fly by the seat of our pants and respond to DS's every beckon call :)  Which i think is just fine for now.....

We do try to help him distinguish between day and night by keeping the house louder and more active and bright during the day and quiet at night.  So far his days/nights are still pretty mixed up, but I think this is the first step.....

  • We started our DD on a schedule at 2 weeks and she's now a month and two days and boy does she know that schedule! My parents were in town this weekend and they were so impressed on how she knew when it was naptime or feedtime.

  • I'm going to attemp introducing routine for DD starting today too. I need her asleep everyday between 10am-noon. ::crosses fingers::
  • We just barely have a schedule now. In the beginning I was always trying to put DS on a schedule, and it never worked. He dictates how things will run and he did not fall into a steady routine until just recently, just in time for me to go back to work and throw a wrench into things. Just go with the flow.
  • my lo just started developing  schedule of his own last week. it isn't 100 reliable, but i can generally predict when my ds will nap/eat/ be awake, etc there is no way my child would follow a schedule that i set...he is hungry when he's hungry, regardless of what i want

  • What is this word "schedule" you're using?
  • We didn't establish a schedule.  DS did.

At about 6 weeks, he was eating and napping around the same time everyday and still is.  I've worked MY schedule around him.

  • I didn't start following a schedule until 4 months. Prior to that, we just followed cues...but his schedule was based on his prior routine. I try to stick to it daily, but things come up and we are rarely right on target. It works for us though.

  • We went on a "routine" of eat-play-sleep from the beginning, although there really was no set schedule at that point. Around 2.5 months, we started having DS's first feeding at the same time each day, and a schedule kind of took shape on its own from there.
  • When ds started daycare he wasnt on a schedule.  Now he has one, finally.
