Okay, on a lense it says 18-55mm and then f whatever.whatever - whatever.whatever. Are those the two numbers that are the top and bottom of what you can set the aperature (f stop?)? Does that make sense?
Those are the lowest aperture at the range of the lens, if that makes sense. It probably says something like F4.0-5.6 which means at 18mm, you can go to 4.0 but by 55mm, your lowest aperture is 5.6. Does that make sense? It can probably go pretty high - 18-22 (??).
That makes perfect sense, actually. So if you want an aperature setting below that, then an addition lens is needed, correct? (any tips, blog, book recs would greatly be appreciated! Thanks, ciarri!)
Re: **jw** yet another camera question (or anyone)
I'll answer part 2, since Ciarri helped you!
Yes, you need to get a different lens if you want lower f stops. ie, my 50mm lens goes to f/1.8.
