believe that CD14 is the "magic" time to do the "deed" and get pregnant??
I just had a friend tell me that is what her doctor said. I told her I thought it was a myth that women O on day 14 (we have both read TCOYF).
For those of you who are seeing an RE, is that what they go by? Or, are they judging by the ultrasounds?
It's funny how the subject gets changed rather quickly when it comes up. I find myself "getting on my soapbox" and I have to catch myself. Otherwise, I just sound like a big, desperate idiot. (why can't I just stay quiet?)
Oh, and then on the way home, my DH mentions that a friend of ours is pregnant that just got married a couple months ago. I don't say anything; I haven't gotten him to understand quite how I feel when someone in "our group" announces.
It's days like these that I wish I could just throw my thermometer and CBEFM out with the next trash pick up. Ok, vent over. (yes, I'm feeling a tad bitter, which I know probably does not help)
Re: how many of you...(vent)
That was my OWN advice when I started TTC in October 2007, not too far after I started charting and discovered I o'd around CD20ish. I cannot believe a doctor gave that advice!
When you see an RE they take your cycle into their hands - especially if it's medicated. BD or IUI is when the follicle (they also take LH and estrogen into consideration) is ready for it, which may not always be cd14.?
?Speaking of DH, mine told me the other day that our friends (who got married last year) had their little girl and her name is (blah blah blah). I said "yay for them" very sarcastically. DH gets my emotions for the most part but I don't think he realizes that kind of news just cuts to the bone.
?Why don't you throw it all away and just bd on cd14, I mean that's what the doc said! ;-)
Sometimes a written vent is the best vent ever. And even more fun when you have supporters!!!! YAY!!!!!!!?
I'd miss my prime time many months if I aimed for CD14! My RE likes the OPKs a lot for knowing your best time to have sex. I like the temping because then I get a clearer picture of when AF is going to show up.
I understand about pregnancies and babies. It seems like it doesn't get any easier as time goes by. Hang in there!
I did O once on CD14 out of the 6 cycles so far.... LOL
Vent away! We are here for you!
I'll assume this was an OB/GYN who told her that. (Not a big fan of the care I was getting from my OB...I just don't feel like most of them have enugh time to speak in avything but generalizations) I have NEVER O'd on CD 14...usually 16 or 17 of a 29 day cycle.
Funny you mention about throwing away your fertility tools. I'm seriously considering not using my CBEFM this month and just doing the BD faithfuly every other day during my "fertile week".
Thanks ladies. I know you all know this, but it doesn't make it any easier when some couples are able to make it look so simple to get pregnant. Then, people who haven't a clue seem to think that you (who are not yet pregnant) don't know what you're doing, and then when you tell them what tools you're using, they think you're obsessed. It just makes me think that if I quit using the tools, maybe it would happen. But, I woke up at my usual time & took my temp and also turned on my CBEFM before I went to the bathroom.
And yeah, it was an OB that specializes in fertility, whatever that means, that said that about CD14. He or she did recommend using OPKs, but didn't put too much stock in charting BBT (no big surprise there). In the meantime, I'll refrain from "wearing my heart on my sleeve" when the subject comes up.
I wish CD 14 was the magical day lol.
I have 36 day long cycles that I don't even O until the last 10-12 days of. Meaning my magical day isn't usually until day 25 or 26. I would never get pregnant if I only dtd on the 14th.
